Art Welch

On another note, Leigh Arthur Welch would have been 100 today. This past hundred years was a really long time if you measure in terms of change a human would notice. Can you imagine witnessing most of the last 100 years?

He used to go prospecting for months at a time. Pack essentials in a locking oil drum, take a canoe, Portage-ing, the whole bit. When I was about 15, he would have been about 83, he packed up his field gear for a trip. I thought for sure I would never see him again. I'm sure he made that last trip hoping to die out in the bush where he loved it most.

I hope I live well and long. That I don't let fear hold me back too much from doing what I could do. I've already done enough of that in my life.

Big Day!

I got my braces off today!

Man, it feels like your teeth are gonna pull out when they take the brackets etc. off. Youch. It is so strange to be able to brush and floss without concentrating. My teeth look weird to me, they are so big. I hope I like them after I get used to it...
