Being Thankful
Twice monthly my wonderful friends Charlene and Kera put on a breakfast/lunch meeting for women of the Sunshine Coast to learn something and meet people. There’s always a speaker of some kind on topics ranging from business to personal. Today was a wonderful session facilitated by Judith Onley on the topic of Gratitude.
Judith gave us a simple exercise:
Close your eyes and think of a time when things were going really well for you.
Why not try that at home? I’ll wait around…
Then she asked:
Now, how did you feel when you remembered that time?
The feeling and strong imagery that came to me was of my heart beaming very strong, warm energy up and out of my chest. (We’re talking 2 foot beams!) Also, of standing very tall and being excited. (How did you feel?)
Judith spoke of how simply remembering something like that can change your energy and vibration, which in turn affects people around you and outcomes in your life. She suggested that we recall such positive feelings whenever we like.
She also mentioned that a practise of hers is to keep a gratitude journal, pausing every day to reflect on what she is grateful for. What a great idea. I do often “count my blessings” as I walk in this beautiful paradise, but I rarely write them down. I think I will more often, and post them here.
Today I am grateful for
- being almost finished the reno project that ate my summer and then some
- my wonderful talented partner who can fix most anything
- meeting such interesting people both on the Coast and lately online through Havi and Naomi’s course
…and so much more. How about you?
