Last night I was inspired reading some of Leo’s ideas at Zen Habits. So today, instead of my usual routine of turning on the computer early in the day to check my e-mail (and getting lost into surfing or working…), I cleaned and reorganized my desk. It feels so good!
One of the things cluttering my desk was a bunch of half-used notebooks. They contained miscellaneous notes, important tidbits of information, and websites I’d once found worthy of noting. I’m going through these notes to toss the paper and record anything still worth keeping. Here are a few of the links I found in them:
- Kiva.org – Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. You can “sponsor a business” and help the world’s working poor make great strides towards economic independence.
- Panic Goods – I noted this because I liked the interaction for the shopping cart. The shopping cart sits in the footer of the page, and the rest of the page scrolls independently. You drag and drop items into your cart. More recently I noticed this same treatment at Moo’s designs page.
- Tips for keeping cats out of your garden beds – Some good ideas here. At my previous house we had a prolific old holly bush and I used to leave the trimmings around the flower bed to discourage the cats. Pricked myself on them a few times, but somehow I preferred that to cat poop. Now, if only this worked on energetic puppies who like to jump into and dig up nearly everything in site…
