Whirlwind of updates
I’ve been busy busy lately, and letting my blog updates suffer. So here’s the whirlwind of updates…
Introducing… Maggie and Jack
That’s right, those aren’t just any cute faces you see here. These are our new-found furry friends, Maggie on the left, Jack on the right. They’re about 12 weeks old and they just joined us a week ago tonight. Their dad is an Africanis who grew up in the jungles of Liberia (sounds exotic, huh?). He’s a real cuddle hound. Their mom is part Catahoula Leopard dog, part Belgian Shepherd. If they grow up to be the size of their parents they should be about 35 pounds, but Maggie is much bigger than Jack at this point and looks like she got a lot of the Shepherd in her. So we’ll see. The cats are slowly warming up to them - Leeroy is more curious and daring, Lily more timid.
Blog goodies
I finally took the time to move my blog from an old Movable Type back-end to a current WordPress version. You’ll have to excuse the off-the-shelf template** for now. I’d hoped to launch a new design at the same time but then we got puppies, a.k.a. black holes for time and food.
**As off-the-shelf templates go, this is a nice & clean, easy-to-understand template by Andreas.
Climate Crisis
For months I’ve been hearing “you’ve got to watch An Inconvenient Truth”. Well, you’ve got to watch An Inconvenient Truth. I’m a pretty aware person, I think, but this just blew me away within the first few minutes. We *so* have to wake up to our actions. Follow this screening with “Who Killed the Electric Car”, get angry and motivated, and go kick some corporate & political butt!
On a related note, you could simply Work at Home Wednesdays and feel darn good about it.
And, on the subject of recently watched documentaries, we enjoyed 1 Giant Leap. Wonderful concept. However the audio production was a bit frustrating at times (too loud/too quiet, as it switches from intense music to quiet interviews).
